Our wonderful Churchyard volunteer gardening team of seven people are hoping that one or two more would like to join them. You don’t have to be ultra fit or have a super knowledge of gardening!
George, who is the Preston Manor Gardener, knows how things need to be done, and it’s such a happy, friendly group, that anyone who likes to be out of doors would find it worthwhile to go along to the churchyard on a Thursday morning between 10am and 12noon, and have a chat. They would be very pleased to meet you.
Here are the dates of the Spring events at St. Peter’s.
If you are a new member, please come and introduce yourself to one of the committee - it’s great to be able to match names to faces!
The church is going to be busy during May, as we take part in the Brighton Fringe Festival. The young, enthusiastic theatre company called ‘thisismytheatre’ is bringing us Macbeth for eight performances.
Saturday 4th May at 7.30pm
Friday 10th May at 7.30pm
Wednesday 15th May at 7.30pm
Thursday 16th May at 7.30pm
Friday 17th May at 7.30pm and 11.30pm
Saturday 18th May, at 7.30pm and 11.30pm – yes, that’s right – these two shows will go over the midnight hour!
So do come to one of the performances; they really are very good. The doors for all shows will open 30 minutes prior to start time. You can check the booking arrangements on ‘thisismytheatre.com’. Tickets are £10 (£8 concessions), and you can book online or pay at the door.
Our annual fundraising sale
We are pleased to announce that our Annual Sale is back this year, on Saturday 25th May from 10.30am to 3pm. We would be happy to have donations of cakes (PLEASE make a cake!), books, plants and brica-brac (no jumble, please).
Items can be brought to the church the day before, from 2-4pm, or on the morning of the 25th. Books can be left in the tower during the previous week (but not on Wednesday). Please support us by coming to buy and, if you can, by offering to help at a stall.
Events in June
Saturday 8th June at 7pm: Shoreham Chamber Choir. Ticket price (includes light refreshments) £10; concessions £7; students £6.
Saturday 22nd June: our annual Midsummer Tea Party as part of the Preston Village Open Day.
And finally, if you haven’t yet seen the restoration work on the walls of the chancel, it’s worth a visit!!
